Why You Should Consider a Bridal Boudoir Session | Maryland Boudoir Photographer
Your wedding day allows you to be the star of the show. From getting ready to walking down the aisle to family photos, you’ll be in front of the camera all day and will have plenty of images to look back on. But many brides don’t think about another opportunity to step in front of the camera: a boudoir session.
Putting on pretty outfits (or going nude) and strutting your stuff may seem intimidating, but with the right attitude—and the right photographer—a boudoir shoot can be an empowering and amazing experience.
Feel empowered and gorgeous.
A boudoir shoot is a great way to increase your self-confidence before your wedding and to help you feel more confident and comfortable in your own skin. This is something we could all use more of every day, but during the stress and nerves of wedding planning, a little extra confidence can be just the boost you need.
Get more comfortable in front of the camera.
Scheduling a shoot is a great way to get more comfortable in front of the camera. Feeling more comfortable will lead to better images on your big day. After all, if you can rock it in lingerie, you can definitely handle shots of you in your wedding dress!
Have an excuse to go shopping.
In between scheduling the caterer, booking the venue, and everything else that comes with wedding planning, chances are you could use a break. What better way to spend some much-needed downtime than to go look for something sexy that will make you feel beautiful? Plus, you’re going to want some new pieces for your wedding night and honeymoon.
Capture a special moment in your life.
Many brides have worked hard to look stunning for their wedding, and a boudoir session is an awesome way to capture that moment and that feeling. Photographs are able to transport us back to a specific time and place and often bring back the emotions we felt that day. Boudoir photos can help you document a time when you felt your most beautiful.
Give your partner a unique gift.
The love of your life sees you at your best and your worst and still loves you and thinks you’re gorgeous. Imagine their reaction when you surprise them with an album or folio box of boudoir photos the morning of your wedding day! It’s a gift that will get you both excited for your wedding night and will make your day that much more special.
Bridal boudoir is so much more than a sexy photo shoot. It’s a chance to liberate and empower yourself, to recognize your own beauty, and to make the time before your wedding a little less stressful. Book your bridal boudoir photoshoot at Lakesha Miner Boudoir for an unforgettable experience!
How a boudoir session can help heal and empower | Washington, Dc Boudoir
I could write a blogpost about Mrs. P’s empowering boudoir session, but it wouldn’t mean the same coming from me. Instead, I asked her to write about her experience at Lakesha Miner Boudoir in her own words. I truly believe many women will recognize themselves in her story. You are not alone in your feelings and a boudoir session can be transformational!
I introduce to you, Mrs. P!
A good 10 years ago, I was up to date on all the hottest trends in makeup, hair, clothes and cute accessories. Today, I have a solid 5 go to outfits and a plethora of yoga pants, leggings, and white crew socks. You might have guessed by now but I am a mom of three. Not to say that all moms lose their cool factor after having a child but that has been my experience. I will issue a disclaimer right now and say that I adore my children with every fiber of my being. I do not think anyone can articulate the amount of love you have for your child. But I also did not have anyone give me a fair warning that you may lose yourself in the whole mom process. I went from having my own hobbies and interest to having about 100 jobs that pay in chocolate covered lip kisses and a few I love yous. I became unrecognizable to myself, especially when you add in the weight gain from each precious pregnancy. My body began to feel foreign to me. So you can imagine my surprise when the idea of taking a boudoir photo shoot was presented to me. What would I wear? How can I hide my bellies in the photo? Should we photoshop all the curves on my curves? Boudoir shoots are for women with flat stomachs, no children and the body of a pinup model from the 50s. Those were my exact thoughts all the way up until the day I had my shoot with Lakesha Miner Photography.
I arrived at my shoot almost shaking like a leaf and continuously checking my phone in case my husband needed assistance back home with the kids. Thankfully Lakesha had an abundance of wine and snacks to help keep my mind occupied. I was able to choose from multiple robes and lingerie ranging from pretty and glamorous to “hey are you ready for baby number 4”. The shoot was beyond amazing! And it was not because I had three glasses of wine prior. Lakesha was so aware and empathic to me being nervous and self-conscious. I was shown some of my pictures every few clicks and I was totally blown away. The angles and lighting that Lakesha captured were pure talent. I began to loosen up a bit and before I knew it the shoot was over. I had such an amazing time and felt so beautiful that I did not want the time to end.
When I went back to view the finished products a few weeks later, I cried. I cried because I felt so empowered as a woman. No, I do not have the same body as 10 years ago and my hobbies and interests have changed drastically. But what I have realized with the whole process of the boudoir shoot is I am not supposed to be the same person, I’ve evolved into an amazing (and super hot)woman. For those few hours that I took my photos, sometimes completely bare, I had to tap into my inner being. I had no worries, no concerns, just the pure joy of being myself. It is almost something that cannot be explained, only experienced. Boudoir is for every woman! Every shape, every personality, every stage of life. It is for empowering yourself and remembering how damn spectacular you can be! I am forever grateful to Lakesha Miner Photography for helping me find me again.
